Have you ever needed to measure the size of an image, area on a screen or choose a color? Here comes a handy small piece of software called PicPick and is always available from your taskbar. PicPick contains:
- Screen capture (full screen, active window, fixed or user defined region)
- Image editor (with all standard options and effects)
- Color picker and pallete
- Screen pixel ruler (horizontal or vertical. DPI can be user defined)
- Magnifier tool (magnifying lense for a screen)
- Screen protractor (for measuring angles)
- Screen crosshair (adds grid on your screen. Very usefull for aligning objects)
- Whiteboard (onscreen whiteboard. You can draw on your screen directly over a desktop wallpaper or application window to present some feature)

GrafPup

A small bootable Linux distro can be very usefull when you have a brand new computer without operating system or when your hard disk went wrong. GrafPup is a small bootable linux with size of about 75MB that make it ideal for placing it on mini CD and use it whenever needed (no installation is required as this is a Live CD, but you can copy the content on hard disk during the start up and have it work from there).
The GrafPup has all the necessary programs you need, working video and audio codecs, plus all the linux console stuff. Have intuitive desktop items and allows users to get used to it very fast.
Several thing should be specified (typed in) during start up of the LiveCD
As a minus appears that there is no USB keyboard and mouse support,so it wont work on a laptop (but you should try anyway, on a virtual machine maybe)
Althou the development is discontinued, you can have it from here or even better - get the PUPPY Linux an up to date distribution on which Graf Pup is based on.

A well known open source for Adobe Photoshop is GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program). But if you're fammiliar with Photoshop's shortcuts, and need a free image program with solid capabilites, here comes GIMPshop. Yeah, it has all the functions of GIMP (and compatibility, additional plugins etc. as it is a modified GIMP) and the structure and shortcuts are as in Photoshop.

MoWeS Portable II is the basic WAMP (Windows/Apache/MySql/PHP) web server runiing without installation, from hard disk or USB which might be very handy for testing your PHP scripts and websites.
It contains Apache2, MySQL5 and PHP (version 4 and 5 which you decide to get, I suggest both) + Wordpress and Gallery2 and can be packed with additional packages (all popular CMS are present). For this you'll need to visit the MoWeS mixer
For more additional packages a small donation is required.
